Masindi District has officially launched the implementation of the National Cleaning Day campaign following a recent directive from the office of the Prime Minister,with leaders and residents participating in a community clean-up exercise on Saturday.

The district-led exercise was spearheaded by Chief Administrative Officer Samuel Ruhweza Kaija,with officials focusing on cleaning the surroundings of Masindi General Hospital to promote a clean,safe,and healthy environment for patients,staff,and visitors.

The campaign was conducted under the national theme,"A Clean Uganda is Everybody's Responsibility,"which calls on all Uganda's to take an active role in improving sanitation and environmental cleanliness.

At the municipal level,the clean-up targeted Kijura cell,particularly the market area,where garbage was cleared and the surroundings restored to proper hygiene standards.

Speaking after the exercise,Masindi District Vice Chairperson Bright Mugume,who represented the District Chairperson,commended all stakeholders,residents,and officials who participated in the campaign.He announced that the clean-up exercise will now be conducted every last Saturday of the month in line with the national directive.

Mugume noted that Masindi General Hospital will remain a priority during the monthly exercises to ensure the health facility maintains high sanitation standards.

In his remarks,Chief Administrative Officer Samuel Ruhweza Kaija thanked all stakeholders for their commitment and swift response despite the short notice under which the directive was issued.

He further revealed that future National Cleaning Day activities will rotate across different parts of the District to ensure all communities benefit from the initiative.

The National Cleaning Day campaign is intended to promote proper sanitation,environmental conservation,and public health by encouraging every citizen to contribute towards keeping Uganda clean.
