Masindi District council approves shs 1.16 billion supplementary budget

Masindi District council has unanimously approved a supplementary budget of UGX 1,162,259,577 for the 2025/2026 financial year,aimed at addressing funding gaps across key sectors.
Presenting the motion during the council sitting yesterday,the Secretary for Finance, Pamela Nyakato, explained that UGX 394,845,875 has been allocated to the Production sector.Of this amount,UGX 340,345,875 will fund development activities,while UGX 54,500,000 from local revenue has been earmarked for micro scale irrigation supplies.
The council also approved UGX 33,572,363 to facilitate rehabilitation works at Kisalizi Health Center II specifically the Out Patients Department (OPD).
The Education sector received the largest share of the supplementary allocation, totaling UGX 707,324,868.This includes UGX 189,000,000 for capitation grants for seed secondary schools namely Kijunjubwa, Kinumi,St.Pauls'and St.Andrea Kaahwa Seed Secondary school.A further UGX 518,324,868 has been approved to cover Value Added Tax (VAT) expenses for the ongoing construction of Kijunjubwa Seed Secondary school.
Additionally,UGX 26,516,471 was allocated to the water services sector to support the ongoing construction works for the Bulima piped water supply system.
The approved supplementary funds are expected to enhance service delivery and ensure timely completion of critical development projects across the district.
