The Minister of Local Government,Hon.Balaam,has urged stakeholders in local governments to respect the powers and mandate of councils,saying they are critical to decision-making and effective service delivery.

Hon.Barugahara made the call on Tuesday,while launching a three-day induction for councillors from Masindi District and Masindi Municipality at Country Inn Hotel in Masindi Town.

The induction is being conducted under the national theme,"Enhancing Capacities of Local Government Leaders for Efficient and effective service Delivery,"

The Minister said respecting the authority of councils is essential for Promoting good governance and ensuring that decisions affecting communities are made through the appropriate structures.

He urged political leaders,technocrats and other stakeholders to work together and recognise the role of councils in the administration and development of local governments.
