Masindi District Council approves changes in Executive Committee

Masindi District Council has unanimously approved changes to the District Executive Committee (DEC), barely a month after the current leadership was sworn into office.

The changes were presented by the District Chairperson, Patrick Wobusobozi, during a council session held at the district headquarters on Thursday.

Under the new arrangement, Bright Mugume was appointed Vice Chairperson, replacing Cleophas Bigirwa.Wobusobozi explained that Bigirwa was dropped from the position due to limited academic qualifications.

The reshuffle also saw Simon Byaruhanga appointed Secretary for Finance, replacing Neldar Asaba,who was subsequently transferred to the position of Secretary for Production.

Council members also approved new appointments to the District Service Commission.Adolf Kato was endorsed as the new Chairperson of the Commission, succeeding Benjamin Byarugaba, whose term of office recently expired.

In another change, Kaahwa Sharif Juma was approved as the representative of the Urban Authority on the Commission, replacing Swaib Kyamanywa.

Addressing council members after the approvals,the NRM District Chairperson, Kabakumba Labwoni Masiko, called on leaders to promote peace, unity,and cooperation inorder to accelerate service delivery and development in the district.

She urged both political and technical leaders to work together for the common good of the people of Masindi, emphasizing that harmony among leaders is key to achieving sustainable development.

The approved changes take immediate effect.
